A total of nine beaches across the county were preemptively closed on Friday, June 7 as a result of 1.25 inches of rain observed in the last 24 hours, according to the Westchester County Department of Health.

The closed beaches are:

  • Harbor Island, Mamaroneck;
  • Beach Point Club, Mamaroneck;
  • Orienta Beach Club, Mamaroneck;
  • Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club;
  • Coveleigh Club, Rye;
  • Hudson Park Beach, New Rochelle;
  • Davenport Club, New Rochelle;
  • Greentree Club, New Rochelle;
  • Surf Club, New Rochelle.

According to health officials, heavy rains and discharges from stormwater drains can affect beach waters, raising the level of harmful bacteria.
